Evzen Rattay is a Czech cellist. He is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Prague. Winner of the First Prize at the Beethoven Cello Competition in Hradec u Opavy - in 1972.
He toured the world with the Talich Quartet, of which he was the co-founder, performing more than three thousand concerts. The Quartet recorded many musical masterpieces, including the complete Beethoven, Mozart and Bartok string quartets, for which they obtained the "Grand Prix du Disque".
In recent years, as a soloist, he has performed throughout Europe, including at the Wigmore Hall in London, and in the Santory Hall - Tokyo, Japan. He recorded the complete Beethoven sonatas and variations, the complete Suites by J.S.Bach and the complete Vivaldi Sonatas. Besides the common cello repertoire, Evzen has also been accompanied by non-traditional instruments and arranged some famous pieces for such musical ensembles. Evzen Rattay is also a member of the Antonin Dvorak Trio.
